Missing Link Cinema began as a pseudo-production company when Jason was required to create one for a pre-production class at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Shortly after meeting Charles and collaborating with him on a few student projects, the idea of creating a real production company began to emerge; under the name of Missing Link Productions.
Upon graduation, Jason continued to build upon his established company name by working on short movies for contests. In 2002, he received his first Telly Award for “Words of Love”. During this time, Jason kept in contact with Charles and invited him to become part of the company. Not long after that, they brought Karen on-board to act and compose music for their movies.
Within a few short years of working together, their efforts began to garner recognition and accolades. Their first real collaboration together, “Unborn”, resulted in a Telly Award and also placed in the Top 250 for the Project: Greenlight Directors Competition. Jason, Charles, and Karen also competed in the annual Frederick 72-Hour Filmmaker Contest, placing second on three consecutive occasions with the movies, “Dolts: The Short Bus to Glory”, “La Fenetre Ouvrir: The Open Window”, and “Missing”. To top it off, they received another Telly Award for “La Fenetre Ouvrir: The Open Window”, making the combined total of Telly Awards at three. It was during this time that Jason and Charles decided to change the company’s name to its current label of Missing Link Cinema.
After taking a short hiatus in 2006, the MLC crew competed again at the 72 Film Fest in 2007, and in 2008, they were award Best Writing for their movie, “Falling”.
Always looking toward the future, Jason and Charles have decided to expand their vision by turning their small venture into a larger one. Missing Link Cinema is now: Missing Link Cinema, LLC.
Now a full-fledge production company, Jason, Charles, and Karen continue to write, produce, and direct with hopes of fulfilling their dreams and making it big.
